Global conservation of plant biodiversity on tropical islands is a major priority, as approximately one third of all endangered plant species are insular endemics. Checklists can be an important first step in determining conservation priorities on islands. Hainan, the largest island in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot, and therefore an international focus for conservation, has the most extensive and best preserved tropical forests in China. In this study we enumerate the endemic seed plants of Hainan Island. The checklist was prepared by consulting: (1) several bibliographic/taxonomic data base resources, (2) relevant taxonomic treatments and floras, and (3) plant taxonomists who are actively working with Chinese plants. The checklist also contains information concerning conservation status, the occurrence of Hainan endemics in four protected areas on the island, and available molecular phylogenies. An additional checklist of the species that were until recently thought to be endemic to Hainan, but are no longer considered to be, is also presented. In a separate paper in this issue of Botanical Review the patterns of endemism on Hainan Island are discussed. 相似文献

【目的】中药骆驼蓬含多种生物碱,对动物有毒性。生活于荒漠半荒漠的骆驼可采食部分有毒植物而不中毒。为了解骆驼瘤胃微生物对骆驼蓬植物毒素的耐受与降解能力进行本研究。【方法】以含100mg/L纯品去氢骆驼蓬碱的M98-5培养基接种骆驼瘤胃内容物,经五代胁迫培养后分离可耐受/降解去氢骆驼蓬碱的细菌,以薄层析法检验其降解活力,以16SrRNA序列分析其进化地位。【结果】29个分离株中15株具有降解去氢骆驼蓬碱活性;16SrRNA序列分析显示,属于乳杆菌属(Lactobacillus)16株,占55%;志贺氏菌属(Shigella)7株,占24%;芽孢杆菌属(Bacillus)4株,占13.8%;肠球菌属(Enterococcus)和巨型肠球菌属(Megasphaera)各1株。【结论】可耐受/降解去氢骆驼蓬碱的骆驼瘤胃细菌仅限于少数几类,且检测到的具有降解活力的只有乳杆菌类。 相似文献

Triad 1 (2 RING [really interesting new gene] fingers and DRIL [double RING finger linked] 1) is an E3 ligase that induces apoptosis and clonogenic inhibition in myeloid cells through Gfi-1 stabilization. Here we demonstrate that Triad 1 induces apoptosis in several cancer cell lines including MCF7, A549, U2OS, and HCT 116 p53+/+ cells via its RING ligase activity. Interestingly, in these cancer cells, Triad 1-induced apoptosis is not mediated by Gfi-1 stabilization but is instead p53-dependent. Moreover, Triad 1 promotes transactivation of p53. These results suggest that Triad 1 can induce apoptosis through its ligase activity via p53 activation. 相似文献

LptC is a conserved bitopic inner membrane protein from Escherichia coli involved in the export of lipopolysaccharide from its site of synthesis in the cytoplasmic membrane to the outer membrane. LptC forms a complex with the ATP-binding cassette transporter, LptBFG, which is thought to facilitate the extraction of lipopolysaccharide from the inner membrane and release it into a translocation pathway that includes the putative periplasmic chaperone LptA. Cysteine modification experiments established that the catalytic domain of LptC is oriented toward the periplasm. The structure of the periplasmic domain is described at a resolution of 2.2-Å from x-ray crystallographic data. The periplasmic domain of LptC consists of a twisted boat structure with two β-sheets in apposition to each other. The β-sheets contain seven and eight antiparallel β-strands, respectively. This structure bears a high degree of resemblance to the crystal structure of LptA. Like LptA, LptC binds lipopolysaccharide in vitro. In vitro, LptA can displace lipopolysaccharide from LptC (but not vice versa), consistent with their locations and their proposed placement in a unidirectional export pathway. 相似文献

Studies on some plant species have shown that increasing the growth temperature gradually or pretreating with high temperature can lead to obvious photosynthetic acclimation to high temperature. To test whether this acclimation arises from heat adaptation of ribulose 1,5‐bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco, EC 4.1.1.39) activation mediated by Rubisco activase (RCA), gene expression of RCA large isoform (RCAL) and RCA small isoform (RCAS) in rice was determined using a 4‐day heat stress treatment [40/30°C (day/night)] followed by a 3‐day recovery under control conditions [30/22°C (day/night)]. The heat stress significantly induced the expression of RCAL as determined by both mRNA and protein levels. Correlative analysis indicated that RCAS protein content was extremely significantly related to Rubisco initial activity and net photosynthetic rate (Pn) under both heat stress and normal conditions. Immunoblot analysis of the Rubisco–RCA complex revealed that the ratio of RCAL to Rubisco increased markedly in heat‐acclimated rice leaves. Furthermore, transgenic rice plants expressing enhanced amounts of RCAL exhibited higher thermotolerance in Pn and Rubisco initial activity and grew better at high temperature than wild‐type (WT) plants and transgenic rice plants expressing enhanced amounts of RCAS. Under normal conditions, the transgenic rice plants expressing enhanced amounts of RCAS showed higher Pn and produced more biomass than transgenic rice plants expressing enhanced amounts of RCAL and wild‐type plants. Together, these suggest that the heat‐induced RCAL may play an important role in photosynthetic acclimation to moderate heat stress in vivo, while RCAS plays a major role in maintaining Rubisco initial activity under normal conditions. 相似文献

The differential ability of forest herbs to colonize secondary forests on former agricultural land is generally attributed
to different rates of dispersal. After propagule arrival, however, establishing individuals still have to cope with abiotic
soil legacies from former agricultural land use. We focused on the plastic responses of forest herbs to increased phosphorus
availability, as phosphorus is commonly found to be persistently bioavailable in post-agricultural forest soils. In a pot
experiment performed under field conditions, we applied three P levels to four forest herbs with contrasting colonization
capacities: Anemone nemorosa, Primula elatior, Circaea lutetiana and Geum urbanum. To test interactions with light availability, half of the replicas were covered with shade cloths. After two growing seasons,
we measured aboveground P uptake as well as vegetative and regenerative performance. We hypothesized that fast-colonizing
species respond the most opportunistically to increased P availability, and that a low light availability can mask the effects
of P on performance. All species showed a significant increase in P uptake in the aboveground biomass. The addition of P had
a positive effect on the vegetative performances of two of the species, although this was unrelated to their colonization
capacities. The regenerative performance was affected by light availability (not by P addition) and was related to the species’
phenology. Forest herbs can obviously benefit from the increased availability of P in post-agricultural forests, but not all
species respond in the same way. Such differential patterns of plasticity may be important in community dynamics, as they
